Hungry for fun

Are you ready for it, dear friends?

Another Walker girls production, that is.

Well, prepare yourselves for a visual feast.

Kelly and Bree have done it again - with the help of another sister Abby and their talented Mum Carole.

The occasion was joint first birthdays for Max (my godson and Kelly's son) and Grace (Bree's daughter).

And the theme was The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Behold the magnificent . . .

The lanterns were awesome!

And a donut birthday cake. Brilliant.

Chocolate cake pops

Caterpillar slice
NB. Special mention goes to 'Pop' Walker who carried boxes of these cereal treats home from America, especially for this slice. Dedication.

Fruit skewers - best way to get kids to eat fruit!

Sandwiches
Bree, those chicken sangers were ah-mazing!

Gorgeous biscuits complete with holes

Kelly and Max (left) with Bree and Grace in their gorgeous party tees

And butterfly cakes
Yep, that's me with the sweet treats. Typical.

Congrats on a brilliant day, girls!

Looking forward to Zara's Icecream Party next year xo

Old friends

Only three more sleeps 'til I set sail for New Zealand. Holidays, yes!

I'm so excited to catch up with my pals from London circa 2005. So much has happened since!

I was adopted as an honorary Kiwi during my time in the UK and was unbelievably lucky to have such amazing friends.

Lou (my old roomie) and Fern (her besty and my travel buddy) have been to visit me in Adelaide since our Filmer Road days, and I headed over to Fern and Scott's wedding in Mount Maunganui two and a half years ago.

This time, Lou's tying the knot and I'm so excited about our reunion!

To get me in the spirit, I had a bit of a cruise down memory lane . . .

Drinks in Auckland . . .

Running of the Bulls in Pamplona . . .

Sail Croatia . . .

Sunday snakebites at the P&P . . .

More snakebites, this time at the Fulham Slug & Lettuce . . .

Pouring pints in Freeling aka the pub from McLeod's Daughters . . .

Wedding fun on the beach . . .

And drinks at the cricket . . .

What brilliant times we've shared, girls!

Can't wait to add to the memories next week xo

hard to find but easy to read

I love a new online magazine find!

Hats off to the team at hard to find - their marketing is fabulous and they have certainly got my attention.

If it's not the beautifully presented catalogues that come in my monthly mag, then it's the daily email updates I get that brighten my day.

Their styling is awesome and their offerings so fresh.

So it was no surprise that their latest venture is so spot on the mark.

htf. magazine is truly beautiful. And clever. Sure, there's lots of product placement but they've done it so intelligently. It's not all 'look at us, we're so great', it's more subtle and classy and I'm impressed.

No pain, no gain

My poor Adelaide Oval.

It looks like a bomb's hit it!

But you know what they say, short term pain for long term gain.

What a fun few days we've had, old friend . . .

Cake to your heart's content

I can't take a trick when it comes to my health lately. I'm like a two year old at childcare, I pick up all sorts of bugs.

So it hasn't been a good week ... but then there was cake and order was restored to the world.

Sending out an SOS

If you're anything like me, then you always need a new project to work towards, something to look forward to on the horizon.

Don't get me wrong, I definitely live in the 'now' but I like having something to dream about, plan for and use as an excuse (if only to myself) for spending hours surfing the net.

New Zealand is the next big adventure for me, but Lou and Fern have our itinerary all sorted so I'm going to indulge in being totally looked after without having to think. It'll be total switch off holiday mode which is just what the doctor ordered for me at the moment.

So beyond that, it's my 30th which has lots of elements to consider. Of course, there's my partay which still has me very confused but I'll get to that in another post down the track.

Then there's also plans for an exciting US of A adventure with Emma!

First of all, I'm hitting up NYC with my parents (did someone say Bridget Jones?) but then Em and I are setting off a preppy tour of the States.

But we're kind of stumped, so much to fit in in so little time! We're starting on the East Coast and then want to spend time in the South before ending up in San Fran, Vegas and LA.

Any must sees, people?

We're thinking of hiring a car and want to hit up Palm Springs, Charleston, New Orleans, Portland etc.

We really need a 'Preppy Guide to the US' - surely there's one out there! No doubt penned by Sarah Vickers or Devon Baer or someone equally as fabulous!

And there are so many hot spots we want to fit in including shops made famous by blogs - take Furbish Studio for example. I adore isuwanee. Can you imagine seeing this place in the flesh!?

So, any suggestions dear readers!?

Pop goes the weasel

Have you heard?

It's so exciting!

Brown Button Trading is going 'real life'!

The gorgeous Kimberlee is holding a Pop Up Shop in a few weeks' time, perfect lead up to Christmas.

She'll have all the BBT goodies we know and love, pre-wrapped to make your life easier.

And did I mention there'll be bubbles!? Perfect.

If you're in the Adelaide hood, drop Kimbo an email and she'll send you through all the deets so you can head along.

Throw another STEAK on the barbie

We all know I'm a meat girl from way back.

Nothing beats a medium-rare slab of steak to get me giddy with joy.

I love love love love the latest ad campaign from Meat and Livestock Australia. It's so clever!

Double take

Is it just me or did anyone else notice that Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall was wearing her Royal Wedding hat to Melbourne Cup today?

Royal Wedding April 2011

Flemington Nov 2012

Look, I can hardly talk as I wore the same hat for the fourth time in three weeks today, but come on . . . she's ROYALTY! Money's hardly an object!

Or do you think it's great she's recycling a winning look - I mean, it is a gorgeous hat after all!

I'm undecided . . . but I do think I'm going to say "too soon"

Pics from here and here

From where I'd rather be . . .

Happy Melbourne Cup Day!

To get you in the mood and make you totally green with envy as you sit at your desk, here are some gorgeous pics from the team at Georgeous - event planners to the stars.

They do The Races like no other. I have a serious girl crush on the owner, Georgie Kay. What an absolute talent!

From David Jones at Caulfield to the Herald Sun at Flemington, they spoil their clients with beautiful blooms, innovative design and personalised finishing touches like nothing I've seen. Their interiors are mind-blowing and ground breaking, it's not the stock standard hospitality marquees you'll see at other events.

Follow them on Facebook here and while you're at it, look them up on Instagram (@georgeousoccasions), I love their behind the scenes shots.

Dotty for the races

So I've been slack on the blogging front but with Melbourne Cup tomorrow, I thought I'd better share with you my Spring Carnival outfit.

I'm so thrilled with how my hat turned out! I've never had so many comments on my outfit before, I said to someone I felt like Miranda Kerr . . . without the body! Heather Clark of Studio Hats was the creative force behind it, she's brilliant.

Some may say I'm breaking all sorts of protocol by recycling my hat time and time again (as of tomorrow, I would've worn it four times in three weeks) but I've changed my dress each time and love how the price per wear is looking much nicer each time!

So here it is . . .

And this was with Jourdanne (the girl behind my freezer full of meat!) at our friend Jo's 30th birthday at Caulfield Cup Day at Morphettville . . .

And most recently at Cox Plate with my Mum and Dad at Moonee Valley.

It would've been perfect at Derby Day on the weekend.

And yes, I'll be wearing it again tomorrow at Morphettville for Melbourne Cup Day.

What's your Cup Day inspiration? Are you embracing neon or going more traditional this year?

Mo & Sons

Good luck to everyone starting Movember today.

A great cause x
