Green is good

Having lunch with a very dear and very pregnant friend today and realised I hadn't shared pics from her gorgeous baby shower the other week.

It was so sweet, such a gorgeous afternoon on the lawn.

The food. A+

The company. Top notch

The games. Subtle (thank goodness!)

The setting. Perfect

The decorations. Divine (care of Bliss Events)

All the best BK x

Fitzperfect

Have you ever seen anything so beautiful?

Georgeous | Simply Georgeous Occasions never cease to ah-maze me. Their work is perfection, out of this world, totally exquisite.

This wedding in Melbourne's Fitzroy Town Hall ticks all my boxes - colour, flowers, community, magic . . . everything.

In the meantime, back to researching my 30th . . .

hashtag happy

Yes, I'm a Gen Y-er but even I get lost in the maze of hashtag acronyms ruling the twittersphere.

Kids these days.

My new fave . . .

#yolo

I looked at my friend Alice the other day when she used it in the context of talking about her upcoming holiday to Positano, Italy.

"Kate. Come with us! Yolo! "

What on earth could she mean?

"Um, Yolo? Year Of Living Opulently? I guess, I've got some spare spending money now that my US plans have changed, but TWO overseas trips in one year? That's a bit too opulent, I would've thought, Alice."

She laughed and congratulated my creativity, but went on to explain 'yolo' stands for 'you only live once'. Kind of the same thing, I guess!

I love the sentiment behind this, seize the day, carpe diem!

I try and live my life like I'm always on holidays - I stay up really late and try to squeeze as much as I can into each day. I play tourist in my own town and make lots of dates with friends to try new restaurants and bars. I'm a yes girl, count me in, I'm there.

What do you do to seize the day?

Up up and away

Happy happy 30th birthday to my oldest and dearest friend Lill.

I think this year clocks up nearly 20 years of friendship and like a good bottle of wine, it keeps getting better and better with age!

Thought you'd love this 30th birthday celebration idea - it's so cute! I would've loved to have done this for you at Wye River this weekend but a blog post will have to suffice . . .

The helium balloons above (all 30 of them) carried a message from a group of the birthday girl's friends.

The girls all got together to celebrate Suzanne's special day and released the balloons into the world to bring happiness and joy to the people who found them tangled in a tree in their backyard or perhaps caught in a bush at the local playground.

Remember doing this as a child? Bless!

A visually much prettier version than a message in a bottle. I love it!

Read more about it here . . .

Have a great weekend Lill and I look forward to some Melbourne magic with you next weekend x

Mambo Italiano

The lovely Pete and Michelle hosted a gorgeous long lunch on their back lawn in celebration of Michelle's 30th birthday last week.

It was stunning weather, great company and perfect food. Not so sure about that orange liquor though Michelle, I'm going to blame that for my killer hangover on Sunday!

The menu included meatballs and bruschetta to start, with beautiful shared antipasto platters and then roast meats with salads to boot - including panzanella, calabrese, fennel and orange, and beans. And then for dessert, a gelati bar.

Plus copious amounts of prosecco.

Molto bene, people!

Zucchini go lightly

Kicked off my week with a delicious dinner on the couch after Zumba last night.

Dad would be so disappointed in the lack of meat on this plate, but it was really good (even if a slice of bacon would've really topped it off!)

Posted it on instagram and had a request for the recipe, so here it is Miss Gemma:

Zucchini Burger

2 medium zucchini (240g), grated coarsely
1/3 cup (35g) packaged breadcrumbs
1 Tbspn finely grated parmesan cheese
1 green onion (scallion), sliced thinly
1 egg white, lightly beaten
1 Tbspn finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
cooking oil spray
1 large brown onion (200g), sliced thinkly
4 green oak leaf lettuce laves
1 small fresh beetroot, peeled, grated coaresly (I sliced some tinned baby beets)
2 Tbspn tomato relish
2 hamburger buns, split, toasted

  1. Place zucchini in strainer; squeeze excess water from zucchini.
  2. Combine zucchini, breadcrumbs, cheese, onion, egg white and parsley in medium bowl; season.
  3. Shape mixture into two patties
  4. Spray medium frying pan with cooking oil; cook onion, stirring, about 10 minutes or unitl b rowned lightly. Remove from pan.
  5. Cook patties in same pan until browned both sides and heated through.
  6. Sandwich lettuce, patties, onion, beetroot and relish between bun halves

Tip: I think I'd try some minted yoghurt or something with it next time. And I'm sure you could use jar caramelised onions if you can't be bother frying up your own!

Totally Texas

Did you see the delicious home of Bailey and Pete McCarty in the latest issue of Matchbook mag?

Those pink walls? Scrumptious.

I think I could be very comfortable in Texas.

Read about it and see more pics in this month's Matchbook mag

Framed!

Can you believe the first week of February is dead and buried already? I feel sick about it!

Where does time go?

Have been meaning to put up pics of my Christmas Day for ages - remember the photo booth props I printed out? Well they were a hit with the fam, especially my nearly two year old niece, Ruby.

Tis the season!

I re-booted my New Year on Friday 1 February and I'll tell you what, it's going well so far!

How are your New Year's Resolutions coming along?

Riviera of dreams

The gorgeous Michelle is throwing an Italian Riviera themed 30th birthday party at her place and I'm searching for the perfect outfit.

I'm taking a big bowl of DIY bruschetta so the food is sorted but need to work on my ensemble.

Was looking for inspiration and found some pretty pics but nothing that screams SOLD!

Any suggestions?
