Take off

I just booked my flight to Melbourne.

Like, the flight that will take me to my new home where I'll start my new job and find my new boyfriend and experience a new happiness.

Expectations high? Nah!

It still hasn't really set in, the fact I'm leaving the Rads. And my family. And my cute little shoe box of a house.

I've got so much on my mind - a crazy Easter at work, to start with.

Then finishing up my job, packing up my house, starting my new job, heading to New York, turning 30, throwing a shindig of a partay and then crossing the border for good to see what life throws at me.

Oh, and finding somewhere to live in Melbourne. That's not going to break the bank or break my heart.

All this within the next 8 weeks.

And breathe.

Like sand through the hourglass

Talk about living the American dream.

Sarah Vickers and Kiel James Patrick (and their entourage) live a storybook life - if their blogs are anything to go by.

I'd quite happily swap my wardrobe for Sarah's - her outfits are perfection. Classically simple. And her hair's always effortlessly chic.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall to see what they really get up to in their everyday life. Do they lead as much a charmed life as their carefree photos suggest?

In the meantime, I'll stay fixed to the computer screen for daily updates of their dreamboat life.

Brace yourself

The most special friend left me a little surprise in my letterbox the other week.

Completely out of the blue and unnecessary but so very much appreciated.

She said she saw the silver bangle above (paired with my favey J.Crew bracelet) and thought of me so had to buy it. How sweet!

Anyway, it's been the most eerily relevant mantra to live by in recent weeks.

If you have the strength to believe, your dreams will come true.

I've had a dream since the 1990s of what my perfect job was. I'm caught on our Year 12 video saying that's where I see myself in ten years time, and I've had the job ad from 2001 stuck to the back of my door ever since.

Well this week, after a crazy and long winded few months, I was offered my dream job and I have accepted.

This means a move to Melbourne and I'm freaking out.

But I'm excited. And really proud of myself (if I do say so myself!). I've been committed to my dream and been strategic in my decisions to help get me there.

It's all a bit daunting now that it's happened. And all in the lead up to my 30th birthday. Eeeek!

So stick with me as I start this new chapter. Melbourne, please be kind to me.

And Radelaide, stay cool.

Hello petal

Most of my friends are turning 3-Oh this year and I'm soon to join the Club in May.
I'm always on the hunt for unique and personal pressies for my friends and family and was so so so excited when the fabulous Pip Boydell agreed to do a commissioned piece for my darling friend Bree's birthday.

I got all the girls from school involved (thanks JB, Gemmal, Kib and Jo) and put in a special order for a peony - Bree's favourite flower and her bridal bloom.

Pip did a phenomenal job. She has so much attention to detail and I love it to bits. It's so beautiful in real life, these pics just don't do it justice (so you can imagine how exquisite is in the flesh!).

Peonies seem to be the flavour of the month with Pip working on another peony recently (third pic down). Aren't they just the most perfect flowers?

Make sure you check out Pip's blog for other examples of her work. I'm saving my pennies for a painting of my own one day.

Thank you Pip, it's a really special gift that I know Bree will love forever x

Some like it hot

My word it's been hot.

And I like it hot.

Swims at the beach, iceblocks, crisp white wine, outdoor BBQs, summer dresses. It's all good.

But endless days of the high thirties is a tad extreme.

The cool change has arrived and I worry we've seen the last of Summer.

Autumn, be kind to me x

Friday Night Lights

This long weekend has been the perfect excuse to indulge in some couchtime.

Mad March is taking its toll on me - I haven't had so many big nights since my uni days!

So I've taken to 'recovering' under the fan on the couch these past few days and have become obsessed with yet another American TV series.

This one is a bit more deep than Hart of Dixie - it's critically acclaimed and received rave reviews in the US.

Friday Night Lights is awesome. It's got everything - romance, sport, teenage angst. Love. It.

I'm halfway through the first season - there are five seasons all up and I'm champing at the bit to get through them all.

And the best bit? George Tucker from Hart of Dixie is in it - he's star Quarterback Jason Street and he's just as cute. And I'm smitten with Coach Taylor. His wife is just gorgeous too.

So many likable characters.

And it's sooooo American. We don't have anything like it in Australia. It must be crazy being a teenager in Texas, how I would've loved to do a high school exchange back in the day!

Clear Eyes. Full Heart. Can't Lose.

The raddest of Rads

Good work, Rads.

I'm proud of you.

According to adelaideNow . . .

ADELAIDE has been voted the most liveable city in Australia for the third year in a row because it is an affordable place to buy housing, has a good standard of living and is clean.

I like to think we have a lot more to offer - take Mad March for example - but this is a good foundation.

The city is buzzing at the moment and to quote a dear friend of mine who visited from NZ a few years ago at this time of year, "Wow, it's like New York City! There's so much going on!"

Okay, maybe she was a bit over excited but I'll take what I can get.

Radelaide, I heart you.
