A vision

Feel like treating your eyes to a visionary feast?

Well, head to Black & Spiro's freshly launched website.

It's beyond beautiful.

I've come in to work to tidy up a few things before I leave and I've been here for nearly an hour and still haven't opened any emails or actioned any items on my list. I've been distracted. But do you blame me?

Check it out now and read about it on Anna's blog here.

Totally Texas

Did you see the delicious home of Bailey and Pete McCarty in the latest issue of Matchbook mag?

Those pink walls? Scrumptious.

I think I could be very comfortable in Texas.

Read about it and see more pics in this month's Matchbook mag

A touch of pink

Look at these pretties that Miss Hunter from navy & orange found over at dustjacket attic.

I love what she had to say about needing a girly bachelorette pad before moving in with a boyfriend.

I've definitely got the girly down pat! Just need to work on the boy . . .

With compliments

Look at this totally delicious living room that Sally just sent me through.

She said it reminds her of my place. Biggest compliment EVAH!

I've got a long way to go but this is total inspiration from none other than Rita Konig.

If only I had a magic wand and could wave it over my shoebox of a unit to transform it into this beauty . . .

Brick upon brick

Little bit obsessed with exposed brick walls at the moment.

Would love one in my family room. It seems really warm and cosy or something?

I have to laugh . . . I grew up with exposed bricks in my childhood home and remember always thinking 'these bricks are so dated!'

How trends move in cycles . . . and how our tastes mature.

The best bit, is that they even look great painted! I like the really old ones with poster scraps and faded graffiti on them.

Home theatre

Loved my latest issue of Vogue Living and was especially taken by this Italian transformation of a turn-of-the-century theatre into a modern loft.

All that light, it's just gorgeous!

Got me thinking of how I love high ceilings and a sense of grandeur.

And also how much I love it when a 'venue' is used in the most unexpected fashion. Like a church for a home, or an old tomato tin for a herb planter.

This recycled theatre concept is used beautifully in Adelaide at One Rundle Trading Co.

Those ceilings are just beautiful. Really adds to the shopping experience.

I'd love to set up a tea house in such an establishment - like The Tea Room in Sydney's QVB. Just gorgeous.

Cucumber sandwiches, citrus tarts, scones and jam and cream . . .

On that note, anyone for a cuppa? (My drink of choice during Dry July!)

Watershed

Stumbled across a new artist today thanks to Camille Styles and her pins.

Love this work by Katie Rodgers of Paperfashion. Her watercolours are beautiful.

What a great idea to do iPhone covers. And I love that you can buy her original paintings as well as prints. Art is something I really want to start investing in. Wish I had more walls to decorate. I've failed miserably with my cluster wall and am still yet to hang my For Like Ever print.

Anyone good with a hammer and nail?!

Stuck in the middle

It all started on The Block.

My love affair with 'floating' beds, that is.

And then it got more intense when I visited my friend Bree in Hobart.

I stayed in their spare room which was a HUGE front formal lounge with a gorgeous fireplace and my bed 'floating' in the middle.

It felt so luxurious!

And then Vogue Living featured a floating bed in its 'L'Escalier' story. Oh la la!

So the love affair continues. But I'll never be able to make it work in my little shoebox of a house.

Instead, I shall indulge in my secret love online . . .

GORGEOUS in front of a doorway . . .

Like an island floating in the sea!

I particularly love this one on the angle, so quirky!

Whimsical is the only word for this.

Great use of space behind the bed. And check out the fireplace. FABULOUS!

This one seems most realistic . . . maybe one day . . .

And hands down, my absolute favey.

Bookshelves, ladder, big windows, flowers, organised chaos.

Love love love!

Once Upon A Lovely House

Is anyone else wrapped up in Once Upon A Time?

I feel like a little girl, reliving all my favourite fairy tales again. It's such a lovely escape . . . all of a sudden true love and happy endings seem entirely possible!

It's a very clever series - not at all the dark, scary story that the Channel 7 previews made it out to be. Hats off to the writers - they're the same team from Lost (which we all agree was fabulous until it got, well weird). I love seeing it all unravel . . . there have been so many penny-dropping moments!

The actors are all so sweet. I am giddy with how much I adore Prince Charming (David) and Snow White (Mary Margaret). Isn't Ginnfer Goodwin just divine?!

On that note, have you fallen head over heels in love with Ms Blanchard's apartment? It's sublime. Not normally my style - I think it passes as shabby chic? - but it suits her perfectly. I just adore it!

So much natural light . . .

And that brick wall is spectacular.

Fabulous ladder and furnishings.

Open plan loveliness.

And just as pretty by night! Love the mis-matched dining chairs and table. And that big beam on the left.

That wall again. And all that light!

Gorgeous little kitchen and quirky tree-like beam.

Rustic and romantic. I love it!

Who else is enchanted by this real-life fairy tale?

Bowled over by bathrooms

I've never normally been one to get excited by bathrooms.

My own little brown/mustard box does the job - I have a bath and a shower which I'm grateful for, but the tiles kind of gross me out and my wooden toilet seat slides off its Royal Doulton base every time you sit down (did you like that little mention? I have a Royal Doulton toilet and basin. Posh, hey?! Shame you slide off it every time you sit down though!).

Whatevs.

But during my daily morning read of the local online newspaper, I stumbled across this BEAUTIFUL home in the Adelaide Hills. And out of all the gorgeous pics in the photo gallery, the ones that excited me most were those of the bathrooms (yes, there are three in fact).

Who am I!? Excited by bathrooms? Gosh, I'll be eating vegetarian next (no way, never, not in this lifetime).

But come on . . . do you blame me?

Look at these tiles!

And that beautiful stonework . . .

Looking down the other end, all that light!

And that window (although, are they bricks from another building I can see through the trees? Not sure I'd be wanting to bathe in quite as much um, visibility!)

And look at the entrance to this spectacular bathroom . . . through what look to be concealed doors within the built in robes. Fabulous!

And then these gorgey blue tiles. Hello lover.

And here is a pic of the outside.

Stop it, already!

I know, you've turned green, right?
